Do you want to improve your listening?

September 30, 2006

As an EFL Teacher I have often been asked this question.

May be here you can get some hints and…practice -
my way of killing two birds with one stone ;-)

In the exercise below decide which is the best
alternative (a or b) for
the summary of the audio bits presented:

1 )
powered by ODEO

a- It’s a good idea to listen to different things
over and over again.
b- It’s a goof idea to listen to the same things
over and over again.

2)
powered by ODEO

a- If you do not understand something you can always
refer to a text and even an online dictionary.
b- If there’s something you do not understand,
try to imitate the sounds because that’s good
to improve your pronunciation.

3)

a - 9 is the number of languages that the speaker has learnt.
b- 2 is the number of languages that the speaker has learnt.

4)

exploited by English Language Teachers
b- This is a good time to learn a foreign language because
technology offers you many alternatives.

5)

to be in his teens.

Think different

September 29, 2006

Watch this really touching video and then follow the
script below. You will find jumbled words in bold
all around.Listen carefully and correct them:

“Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits, the breesl, the troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes, the ones
who ese things differently. They’re not fond of
rules and they have no eptserc for the status quo.
You can quote them, asgrdeie with them, glorify
or vilify them.
But the only thing you can’t do is ergino them.
Because they change things, they push the
mhanu race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones,
we see neigsu, because the people who are crazy
enough to think they can ecahgn the world,
are the ones who do.”
